Imagine Aliens at the Co-Op

This month-long iteration of the Imagine Aliens study took place at the Co-Op,* an independent non-profit learning centre that offers educational programming for 6 - 12 year-olds.
A group of first and second-graders worked in teams to create drawings of exoplanets and the aliens that live on them. The teams worked collaboratively on the drawings, which were then glued together to form a long panoramic scroll that was inserted into a Crankie Theatre. Crankie Theatres are scroll-driven storytelling devices in which an illustrated scroll is wound between two spools and slowly cranked to reveal a moving panorama within the opening of a box.
At the end of the iteration, the students presented their Crankie Theatres to the school and narrated a story about their aliens.
