So often when we meet friends, we meet to share a meal. We go out for ice cream, meet up at a coffee shop, or invite someone over for dinner. Getting together for a meal is common in so many cultures. It’s a celebration, a time of togetherness, an opportunity to exchange ideas – and desert.

Food is also an expression of culture. The dishes and customs of another culture may seem strange to us. What is that thing you’re eating? How are you supposed to use those utensils? Oops – did you just eat the garnish?

Now imagine you’re sharing a meal with someone who is not human. What would you do in that situation?
